The Worldwide Human Problem – Hair Fall

Hair fall is very common in these days. Almost everyone is suffering from this. Earlier, hair fall was happening due to age or any medical condition but nowadays, everyone in all age groups either male or female, young or child or old is facing a hair fall problem. Head hair is the most important beauty of our body but we are not properly taking care of our hair especially men. Women are very conscious about their hair but due to bad food habit and due to the environment, all the human is suffering from hair fall.

Normally human have almost 100,000 to 150,000 hairs on his head and almost 5 million on his body. 50-100 hair falls every day which is normal. At the time of hair washing, the number increases by 200-300 which is also normal so not to worry to see your fallen hairs at the time of washing.

Here we understand the reason or causes of hair fall.

Family History (Heredity): This is the most common cause of hair fall. It’s called male-pattern baldness or female-pattern baldness. Both men and women tend to lose hair thickness and amount with aging, heredity, and changes in the hormones.  Inherited, or pattern baldness affects many more men than women. This type of baldness is not usually caused by a disease or any deficiency.

Hormonal changes and Medical Condition: Hormonal changes and Medical condition also responsible for hair fall. Imbalance of thyroid, at the time of pregnancy, due to childbirth, and menopause; you can see a major hair fall in this time as hormones help to regulate nearly every function in the body, including hair growth. Medical conditions include alopecia areata, which causes patchy hair loss, scalp infections such as ringworm and a hair-pulling disorder called trichotillomania also responsible for hair fall.

Hair style: Your hair style also could be a cause of hair fall. If you pull your hair roots for tight ponytails, you can damage your hair. This type of hair loss is called traction alopecia. If hair follicles are damaged, the loss can be permanent.  

Emotional Stress: Emotional stress is also one of the reasons for hair fall. When you are dealing with some emotional moments with stress, it can disrupt the normal cycle of hair growth. It causes temporary hair loss, but once the stress is under control, normal hair growth is usually restored.

Here are some other causes of hair loss, especially if it is in an unusual pattern, include:

  • Anemia
  • Autoimmune conditions such as lupus
  • Burns
  • Certain infectious diseases such as syphilis
  • Excessive shampooing and blow-drying
  • Nervous habits such as continual hair pulling or scalp rubbing
  • Radiation therapy
  • Tinea capitis (ringworm of the scalp)
  • Tumor of the ovary or adrenal glands
  • Bacterial infections of the scalp

Prevention from hair fall:

If hair fall is genetic, this hair fall is not preventable. Here are some tips which may help you in hair loss.

  • Avoid tight hairstyles, such as braids, buns or ponytails on a daily basis.
  • Avoid twisting, rubbing or pulling your hair.
  • Treat your hair gently when washing and brushing.
  • Avoid hot rollers, curling irons, hot oil treatments, and permanents.
  • Avoid medications and supplements that could cause hair loss.
  • Protect your hair from direct sunlight and other sources of ultraviolet light.
  • Avoid tobacco and smoking.

Hair plays an important role in our life. Hair is the beauty sign of humans. You can confirm with those people who do not have their head hairs. Women are very conscious about their hairs. I would say that each and every part of our body is very important but we do not care for ourselves. Let’s do one thing, just imagine your face without head hairs. I know that the imaginary picture is not looking good. So start to take care of your hair. Hair is the crown of your body.
