How to Improve Communication Skills – Part 2

Effective communication is one of the most important keys to interpersonal skill and the main objective of communication understands. The person, to whom the message is sent, should understand the message and intentions of the sender. Communication is said to be effective when the objective of communication is completed. Poor communication can lead to a negative result not only in your professional life but also in your personal life as well. It doesn’t mean that those who have poor communication do not have knowledge. Might be they have more knowledge but that person cannot express their feeling and emotions in words and cannot connect the audience.

Here are some points where you can work and improve your communication skills.

Listen carefully: – “If you want to be a good speaker, you must be a good listener too.” Although it is one of the hardest ones to develop but it would help if you listen carefully to what people are saying because very often, good ideas and solutions can come when you are listening. Always listen carefully without judgment, have eye contact, and don’t be distracted by thinking about what you want to say next. Then respond, not react. Effective listening is a winning tool as once you listened carefully, then only you can show like or dislike to that person because now you have enough knowledge of them. If you listened carefully, the other person will also listen to you carefully. This practice can improve effective communication.

Body language: – Body language has also an important role in effective communication. Studies show that 65% of all communication is non-verbal that’s why your body language and your posture matter a lot. If suppose you are talking with someone and that person is sighing and yawning or doing some uncomfortable body movement, you both cannot connect with each other. So make sure when you are communicating with others, your body language should be proper and keep eye contact so that the other person feels that you have a concern with them.

Know your audience: – While communicating, it is very important to know the audience and understand their perspective. Think about them, who they are in relation to you, think about their level and think about how they like to communicate and then build a relationship with the audience so that you and the audience can connect with each other. Positive Attitude: – Positive attitude can make life very easy in every step of life. To improve communication skills, you should have self-confidence. Self-confidence brings a lot of ideas and it opens a lot of ways also. If you are confident, people listen to you.

This will add to your interpersonal skills. Reading books gives you the knowledge; those who have the knowledge, can speak very well.

Give your opinion: – Do take participation in public speaking. When you are in any conversation; give your opinion and show your presence but do not disturb or distract between the conversations. Also, do not forget to recognize or complement any positive contribution made by the individual or group of people to whom you are talking to. This practice will improve your communication skills.

Don’t speak too fast: – It’s very important to use a natural rhythm when communicating with others and does not speak too fast. If you speak too fast, it will be difficult for others to understand you.

Take a breath before you speak: – Take a deep breath before you speak, it will help you in speaking and improve also in your communication skill. Try to become less hesitant and more confident.

These are a few points where you can work upon and improve your communication skills. To improve communication skills is not a tough task but not an easy also. It is a continuous process that needs dedication, hard work, determination, and self-confidence. Once you are good in communication skills, the people will follow you; your friends and collogue will follow you, you will be recognized as a renowned person of your society. Effective communication can lead to new ideas and innovation in every step of your life.
