Constipation is a common problem and the main cause of constipation is our life-style and our food habit. It is generally defined as having less than three bowel movements per week or feeling difficulty in passing hard stools. The main cause of constipation is dehydration, poor diet, medications, illness, and diseases that affect our nervous system. Some foods can help relieve or reduce the risk of constipation but there are varieties of foods that may lead to constipation and these foods are:
Junk Food: Junk Food is the main reason for constipation. Due to a busy lifestyle, nowadays, everyone is going out frequently to eat junk food and junk food contains more salt, sugar, less fiber, and preservatives. Due to these contain, our body becomes dehydrated and we suffer from constipation. Canned Juices, packed food, pizzas, pasta, bread, etc. all these junk food don’t give energy to our body. They are harmful to our body so to avoid this junk food, you can save ourselves with constipation.
Alcohol: Alcohol is also one of the main causes of constipation as alcohol is dehydrating and difficult to digest. If you drink alcohol in large amounts, it can increase the number of fluids lost through your urine, causing dehydration and causing constipation. Avoid the intake of alcohol as much as possible.
Gluten: Gluten is a protein generally found in wheat, rye, barley. People, who have allergies to gluten, may have a problem of constipation as they can’t digest food containing gluten. There are many gluten-free foods available. You can replace the bread and pasta that typically contain gluten.
Unripe Bananas: Unripe or under-ripe green bananas cause constipation because they still have a lot of starch, which can be hard for the body to digest. Unripe bananas can cause constipation; ripe bananas can help relieve constipation.
Caffeine: Caffeine generally leads to diarrhea but if a person is dehydrated then it may lead to constipation also. You may take caffeine twice a week.
Milk and Dairy Products: Dairy products made from milk can cause constipation in many individuals. Infants, toddlers, and children appear, particularly at risk. Almost all the children (80%) who eliminated cow’s milk and milk products from their diet had more regular bowel movements. Try yogurt with probiotics that are good for your digestive system. It may help relieve constipation.
White Rice: White rice also may cause constipation because husk, bran, and germs are removed from white rice and all these things are rich in fiber. Prefer to eat brown rice as they contain fiber.
Red Meat: Red meat contains high protein and high fat that is very difficult to digest by many people and it may also cause constipation. So if your digestive system is weak, avoid red meat.
Fried Food: Fried foods are full of fat, low in fiber, salty, and are hard to digest. Salty fried food can lower the water content of stool because when food moves through your colon slowly, too much water can be taken out of it. That makes for a hard, dry stool. Try to avoid these foods as much as possible.
